Shawn Shimkets has been building up his backyard into his own personal paradise for several years. A few times a year, he sends the invite for everyone to come meet up, have some beers, and enjoy all his hard work. I did a straight-forward riding edit from his halloween jam for Ride last year and this time, I felt like riding for a majority of the day, so I kept it simple this time around and just filmed a few clips (after I ate shit, haha) and got some words from Shawn about his spot. In short, we are the Ride BMX staff out on our own. We’re building from the ground up and our goal is pretty simple. We want to continue what we love. We want to create great content, feature awesome riders, and contribute, push, and show why we love BMX.
