So how exactly do you get a chance to ride in one of the best BMX contests of the year, the Battle of Hastings? The contest is comprised of 12 teams. Source chooses 11 team captains, then the captains pick three riders to complete their teams. And then there are four wildcard qualifier spots up for grabs that make up the 12th team. For 2018 Source opened up two qualifier spots for Swampfest and Uncovered BMX, where Mark Burnett and Mad Mike Guth won, respectively. And then the two remaining spots were swooped up by Paul Ryan and Stuart Chisholm at the Source Park qualifier comp. We’ve got a full recap of how the Wildcard team came to be, behind the scenes footage, and some pre and post BOH interviews as well.
